City Government

Safe streets, immaculate city parks, and well cared for city facilities are the pride of Grundy Center’s city government. Grundy Center’s City Hall and Community Center are attractive modern facilities that serve as headquarters for a variety of city meetings and community gatherings. A three-member police department provides law enforcement, and a 31-member volunteer Fire Department provides fire and ambulance services. Three city parks offer a fun variety of play equipment, tennis courts, and shelters for a family picnic or group get-together. Children benefit from a well organized City Recreation program. Swimming lessons, softball and baseball leagues, and tennis lessons are offered at a very modest cost. In addition, a new Sports Complex has 2 lighted baseball/softball fields, little league field, and soccer fields, bordered by a walking and biking trail. The city’s government consists of a part-time Mayor and five part-time city council positions.
